Chorus selected as big data platform for EU-funded H2020 HEART project

The vyzVoice platform, Chorus, is at the core of HEART, an EU-funded Horizon 2020 project focused on achieving high levels of energy efficiency in the existing building stock in Europe. The project aims to develop, test and validate a holistic and multi-technological and interconnected system for the deep rehabilitation of residential buildings.

HEART (Holistic Energy and Architectural Retrofit Toolkit) is a multifunctional retrofit toolkit, consisting of numerous integrated components for transforming an existing building into a smart building. Based on a whole-building performance approach, the toolkit is designed to achieve extremely high levels of energy efficiency in existing residential building stock, particularly in Central and Southern Europe, where climate change and energy transition have increased electricity consumption peaks both during summer and winter seasons. The concept can also be extended to new residential and commercial buildings.

Chorus, the vyzVoice big data platform, is the selected cloud-based computing platform that is at the core of the HEART project. Data on variables including energy efficiency, cost-optimization, life cycle assessment & costing and indoor environment quality will be collected and integrated into Chorus for processing and analysis, and relevant data-driven insights delivered to the platform users. Additional features in the platform will create a support tool both in the decision-making phase (design of the retrofit intervention) and in the operating phase (energy management of the building and of its technical systems) for each building.

This 4-year Horizon 2020 Innovation Action project is coordinated by Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) and involves 16 partners from 10 countries.
